Great Blue Heron Rookery Visit
In partnership with the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT), this tour will visit property normally closed to the public. NVCT staff will be on site to welcome guests to their property and discuss their conservation programs in the region. Mike Lott will discuss the long-term trends and threats to this nesting population of GBH and broadly describe breeding bird monitoring results across the preserve. Due to limited parking space, participants will carpool from the VRE to the field site.

Clothing: Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy and comfortable shoes.
Supplies: Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Participants should be able to:
- Understand and follow directions to avoid/manage risks.
- Tolerate the elements including temperature for the duration.
- Traverse unpaved and uneven trails.
