Some of the aquatic beds in the tidal Chickahominy River are dominated by exceptionally large colonies of floating narrow-leaved spatterdock (Nuphar sagittifolia).  This species is globally rare (G2) and reaches its northern range limit in this single Virginia watershed. © DCR-DNH, Gary P. Fleming
